Les has been a keen car enthusiast for many years and is secretary of the Rochdale Owners Club.

Born and raised in Rochdale, Les' family connections in the area stretch back for 200 years and more. After leaving the local Technical School in 1964, Les studied Aeronautical Engineering at Loughborough University, which led to an enthusiasm for all things mechanical.

Les has been associated with many project car designs, some of which still see regular use, as well as having owned examples of each of Rochdale's best-selling cars. Familiarity with the use of GRP has been a central feature which links these aspects together.

Lack of information about the Rochdale cars has long been a source of frustration for owners but Les' position within the Rochdale Club, coupled to his background in the town have given him unique access to both club records and local contacts.

For such a tiny firm Rochdale managed to produce an amazing range of products and there can be no doubt that full credit has never been given for all that was achieved in the early years of GRP production. It is hoped that this book will go some way to addressing this situation.
